There are primarily two decisions to make when it comes to our finances.
One option is hoping that we get some breaks to get ahead; for instance, some gamble or play the lottery, some hope for an inheritance, and others in today’s world are hoping for another stimulus package.
The other choice involves a long-term strategy of determination, patience, investment in our future, discipline, and faith with the goal of financial peace.
We have to determine which path we choose.
“I discovered that I always had a choice, and sometimes it was only a choice in attitude.” J.M Knowlton
As a financial coach, it is my job to help you get a clear perspective on what issues are important in your life. I will help you prepare a plan starting where you are now and create goals to reach where you want to be financially within the next six months, one year, five years, and on.
I had a lady say to me, “I need a Financial Coach as much as I need a Personal Trainer in a gym” That statement resonated with me! I will be your accountability partner just as a personal trainer coaches clients in the gym.
Working with a coach helps you determine how much income you have, how much you are spending, and how to allocate your money to match income and your financial goals. You will learn that you control your money, where you are spending, and discover what truly matters in your life.
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much." Luke 16:10 KJV
Why Do People Need A Coach?
- You have no idea where your money is going
- You have a good income, but it never seems to be enough
- You don’t know how to get out of debt
- You have collectors calling, and you don’t know what to do
- You would love to be a stay at home parent
- You recently divorced and need help getting re-established
- You feel like you’re in a deep hole and can’t get out
- You received an inheritance, and you don’t know what to do with it
- You are newly married, and you don’t know what to do with finances
- You just graduated, and you have student debt coming due.
- You lost a loved one, and you feel lost with money
- You have a new baby, and you want to provide for the future.
- You want to retire at a certain age but don’t know if you have enough saved
You provide the emergency, and together we will work through the issues!
What Will Coaching Require?
- We will work on creating a budget or spending plan based on your income and needs
- You will establish an emergency fund to take care of your needs while paying off debt
- You will create a plan to eliminate debt with a goal date
- I will encourage you to dream of “life after debt” and turn those dreams into goals
- If you are married, you will both need to join the conversations and work together
- You will learn about your relationship with money and what matters to you
- You will examine your entire financial life to determine what aspects are a blessing and what elements are a burden.
- You will need to commit to working with me as a coach. I will ask personal questions, and some may make you uncomfortable or feel guilty. My promise to you is that I do not judge. Thankfully, that is not my job; we have all made mistakes!
How Do We Begin?
You can click the link Schedule Time With Me to schedule a one-hour complimentary consultation. We will discuss where you are now, what you would like to accomplish, and decide if you would like to pursue coaching.
The next step will be a follow-up email from me with details from our conversation and an invoice for our first session. You will need to Access My Calendar or Contact Me to schedule our first official coaching session.
What to Expect?
The Coaching Sessions are about You, Your Money, and Your Goals.
We will develop an action plan that will help you focus on your current financial status, determine what you value most concerning money, and establish your personal financial goals. I will send forms to begin creating a financial plan, a form to get a snapshot of your current financial status, and a workbook to start paying off debt. We will determine where your strengths are with managing money and where there are improvement needs.
If you prefer electronic tracking, I may ask you to invest in a reasonably priced software program to track your income and spending.
Ask me how to get a discount on the Ramsey Every Dollar app for paying clients. I may not always mention this option; it is available for clients to ask. Full disclosure: I currently do not use Every Dollar. My professional background is finance, and I have used other programs for many years.
If you prefer paper and pen to track your finances, I can provide you with the electronic files to print a budget.
I ask that you not be afraid to ask questions. I may not know all of the answers immediately, but I have surrounded myself with colleagues and local professionals I trust and are willing to help.
I’m happy to provide referrals to my clients for other professionals and I am continuously building that network
Typically, sessions are by phone. We have Zoom and Microsoft Teams, or if you are local, we can meet at a local library or coffee shop.
I do not meet in personal homes and do not maintain a private office.
I will ask you to decide in the first session to make a plan of how you will celebrate “YOUR Life After Debt.”
I look forward to working with you and celebrating your success!
