My now ex-husband, and I spent our final year of marriage, trying to work through our vastly different approaches to finances. Melinda was terrific and listened to both sides positions' and arguments, endlessly sometimes. She worked very hard to never take sides, and simply pointed out what might be the best direction. 

In the end, our marriage didn't survive all its weaknesses but I'm very pleased to say. Melinda's lessons carried through in both of our now single lives. My ex-husband has managed to create his own payroll and has not missed a single payday. He was never the money manager in our shared business. I was. Through her teachings and his voracious reading of every book she could suggest, he is entering the most lucrative stage in his career on his own and doing well.  Melinda's teaching has carried through into his private life and business and is serving him well. 

Now that I have full control of the pace of money going out, in about 9 months time, I have succeeded in having several months of business income and personal household monies set back. I expect to have six months to a year set back within the next year. I have also been able to travel across the country with all three of my children, and comfortably afford small 3- and 4-day travels almost every other month. All of that is only through Melinda's reading recommendations and gentle teachings. I was always a good manager of money, but I never really thought about the importance of having a big cushion and the importance of budgeting enough in (through broad and encompassing cuts) to allow for my own happiness. 

Melinda was and still is a friend forged in the fire of the demise of a long-term marriage. I'm so glad I had her input before this new post-divorce life.
